Description

The object shown here is a hard nut to crack. WR134 is a Wolf-Rayet star located 6000 light-years away in the constellation of Swan. This type of star is special in many aspects. Its color is unique with pink to violet (star in the center of the image) and due to the large presence of helium. Furthermore, this star ejects parts of its shell to be able to continue stable fusion. This is the reason for the bluish shock front of oxygen gas (OIII). Hydrogen (HII) is also ejected, but is almost lost in the expansive hydrogen clouds of the Cygnus.
